Oom Yung Doe schools instruct students in a combination of eight Traditional Martial Arts styles, including Kong Su/Tae Kwon Do, Ship Pal Gae, Aikido/Hapkido, Bagua Chung, Udo/Jujitsu, Tai Chi Chung, and Samurai Sword. Those who study Oom Yung Doe are distinguished from one another in terms of their experience and achievements by a unique belt system.

Practitioners of different ranks in this form of martial arts are visually recognizable by differences in the appearance of their uniforms, belts, and the insignia featured thereon. Students can achieve ranks from first section (1/7 of your belt died black) through 10th Degree Black Belt. In Oom Yung Doe black signifies knowledge so the more black on your belt and uniform the greater your knowledge of your mind and body.

Students who progress beyond 1st Degree Black Belt train to reach higher levels up of Black Belt up to the 10th Degree. Students all levels have the chance to learn from 4 levels of instructors. Each subsequent group is comprised of higher level instructors with great teaching experience. Here is a typical breakdown of belt ranks for each level:

– Local Team (1st – 3rd Degree Black Belts)
– Regional Team (4th – 5th Degree Black Belts)
– National Team (6th – 7th Degree Black Belts)
– Master Level Team (8th Degree Black Belt to Master)

All students of this line of martial arts are given the opportunity to become instructors when they achieve the appropriate rank. This helps to propagate the traditions and knowledge of the style through generations.
